The term ‘spouse’ defines a legally married partner – a husband or wife.

You and your partner must be 18 years or older and married to be eligible for a spouse application.

Your partner must also either:

• Be a British Citizen; or;
• Those with indefinite leave to remain or permanent residence status in the UK, as well as those who are refugees or have humanitarian protection

Both of you must intend to remain in the UK permanently when you apply.

Please note: If you do not meet the income requirements through employment or savings, you will typically not qualify for a spouse visa.
