When people from outside the UK have been granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK, it is referred to as ‘Indefinite Leave to Enter’ (ILE).
Individuals who have secured indefinite leave to remain, the right of abode or Irish Citizenship are eligible for settled status if they are located in the UK. All British Citizens automatically possess the right of abode.
